Chapter Two is where the story basically begins. Also, this is Part I of a III Part Series. Chapter I: The Story Begins (The Journey To Canada) Sonic and Tails wake up early one morning in Knothole. He sees a flash in his window. He peeks out. He sees that it is a plane, that is going down in flames! He runs out, quietly, so not to wake Sally or anyone else. He runs to Tails' home. He walks in, and shakes his "little brother". "Hey, Tails! Get up!" He whispers. "Huh? what for?" Tails asks, groggy and tired, looking at his digital clock. It reads '5:57 AM'. "Sonic, this better be a joke." Tails says, sitting up. "Tails, I just watched a B-52 go down just south of here." Sonic says. "Alright." Tails says, getting his shoes on. They run out, and see the huge wrecked plane, and it is smoking. The fox and hedgehog are very cautious to approach the potentially explosive aircraft. Some other furries walk out and take a look at the plane, some not knowing what it is since they ahve never seen one before. One weilds a pole. "It is a dragon?" One furry asks. "It looks like an iron dragon." Another says. "No, it's an airplane. You know, like a motor car, only it flies." Tails says. "Oh, okay." The furry says, putting down his stick. They walk away to a safe distance to let the heroes get to work. They see the two pilots inside, badly injured. "Sonic. We have to get them out before it explodes!" Tails says, piercing the silence and darkness of the pre-dawn forest. Sonic nods his head, and runs inside. Sonic kneels down to the pilot and taps him on the shoulder. "Hey, are you alright? Can you here me?" Sonic asks the first pilot. All the pilot does is move his hand a bit to let Sonic know that he is conscious. Sonic takes him by the shoulder, and carries the pilot out fire-fighter style. Sonic lays the injured pilot down on the ground, and helps Tails get the other pilot out of the now burning craft. Sonic notices that the two pilots are StarFox and Walt! Sonic and Tails make sure that their friends are safe and are able to recover. Fox opens his eyes, and sees that he is lying on the grass on a hill in the middle of a meadow of the Great Forest. He sees Tails tending to Walt. "Fox, what happened?" Sonic asks. "I don't know. We were delivering some army equipment from Toronto to Knothole...when I heard an explosion. I think we were shot down." He says, struggling for breath. "It seems that you lost an engine from some sort of explosion." Sonic says, looking at the B-52. "Well, let's get you into Knothole." Sonic says, feeling the winds starting to pick up a bit. "So, where did you come from, Fox?" Mike asks. "I was flying my jet when...something went wrong. I felt my jet starting to shake about all around me. Walt and I tried to land it as gently and softly as possible. I was so frightened that we'd crash through the canopy and hit some houses." Fox says. "It's alright. You and Walt are the only ones hurt." Rotor tells the fox. "That's good." Fox coughs. Tails turns to Walt, who is standing up with a crutch. His left foot is broken, and in a cast. "I don't like the look of this situation." Tails says. Sally walks into the room through the door. "What's going on, Sonic? I was asleep when I heard an explosion." Sally says, sounding tired. "Sally, Fox and Walt crash-landed in the night, but they saved everyone in Knothole." Sonic says. Sonic looks outside at the pine trees and rainforest. He sees the Sun coming up and the sky begins to lose its black hues and gain a more light-blue tint. As the day goes on, more wierd things begin to happen. "Hey, Uncle Sonic!" Taylor says, walking up to the Blue Blur. "Hey, Taylor." Sonic replies. "I was wondering if those Fox and Walt are going to be alright." Taylor asks about his friends. "Yeah. They'll be fine. I've seen them in worse scrapes than this! This is nothing compared to the things that they have experienced and almost been killed from!" Sonic says. "Cool. I didn't want anything bad to happen to them." Taylor says. "Yeah. Same Here." Sonic says. They decide to walk back to their Meeting Building, when they bump into a wolf-fox who appeared to be fleeing from something. Sonic falls over. "Hey, be careful!" SOnic says, rubbing his head and getting helped up by Taylor. "I'm sorry, Sonic!" The wolf-fox says. Sonic realizes that it's his friend Kit. "Hey. What are you doing way out here, Kit?" Sonic asks. "Sonic! You have to help me! I'm fleeing! Something BAD went down, and I barely escaped!" Kit says, out of breath. "No way!" Sonic says. "It's true!" Kit says, showing Sonic and Taylor a bullet wound on his arm. "That's awful. We should have an emergency meeting about this!" Taylor says. They bring the wolf-fox into the meeting room. Sally, Tails, Antoine, Fang, Ray and Sonic are present, along with Fox and Walt. "Alright, guys. I have some news." Sonic says. He pauses for a second. "I have been told that there is a disturbance in Kit's area." Sonic says. "What type of conflict?" Sally asks. "A BIG one." Kit says. "What exactly happened, Kit?" Tails asks. "Well, everyone in the country was living in peace, when this dark force with a huge army and power conquered us. They killed a LOT of people in the cities, and they are trying to kill everyone, use our nation's weapons, and take over the world!" Kit says. "Wow. That could get explosive." Fox says. "I don't get one thing." Ray says. "What's that?" Kit asks. "I thought you canucks were peace-loving furries." He asks. "We are. You know, I think they might evern go after the United States and the Echidans because they might have the Chaos Emeralds." Kit explains. "Wait. Something doesn't make sense. I don't get why they have targeted Canada. Why not England, Knothole, or the United States?" StarFox asks. "We have more food, oil, natural resources, and timber than any other country. Besides, we're very close to the USA. That makes us a prime target for takeover." Kit says. "That's not right." Tails says. "Well, then....we have to help them. Besides, this sounds serious, and we aren't THAT far from their border...." Sonic says. "Then it's settled. We go to help first thing in the morning!" Sally says, ending the session. Sonic then sees an incoming Fax. It Reads: "CANADA IN RUINS: GOVERNMENT ALMOST DESTROYED, COUNTLESS DEAD". Sonic can't believe it. He reads further. There's an article of Deputy Prime Minister Brian Grant being killed. "I think we should go in." Sonic says. Tails sits down outside, waring a blue hawaiian shirt with flowers all over it. "Well, what are we going to do?" He asks Sonic. "Well, to be safe, we should travel by night." Sonic tells his best friend. "That's good and all, but what I was meant is that we don't have many people to help us if we actually go in." Tails says. "Well, a few of our friends are in Montreal." Taylor says. "Yeah, and you can't forget those Canadian Freedom Fighters we met once." Mike says. "Alright. Let's go by nightfall." StarFox says to Sonic. Come nightfall, there is a short group of just three cars. A van, a 1982 Chrysler New Yorker, and a Ford Explorer. "Alright. We should be arriving at the Canadian border in a matter of minutes. Let me do the talking, and have your passports ready, Freedom Fighters." Kit says, drivng the Chrysler. Tails nods his head. They arrrive at the border. "Good evening. Can we see your liscence and citizenship?" The border officers ask. "Sure." Kit says. He shows his passport. "Alright! Go on through!" The guards say. THe cars pull out of the toll booth and drive onward. Sonic looks at the flags at the border, which are flying at half-mast. "Oh, something isn't right." Sonic thinks out loud." Kit looks out his window. "I think you're right, Sonic." The wolf-fox says in reply. Kit drives on, and it becomes night. "Alright. I'm too tired to drive safely. Tails, can you take the wheel?" Kit asks. "Sure." Tails says. The two vulpines switch seats and continue their course. After they drive on for about 10 minutes, they enter a large city. "Hmm. London." Tails thinks to himself. Kit sees the Holiday Inn across the freeway. "I'm going to pull in. It's a bit late." Tails says, seeing that the clock says "AM 1:02." on the dashboard. The Freedom Fighters check in to the hotel for the night. In the morning, Tails wakes up, and hears a knock at the door. Tails opens the door very slowly. "Yes? How can I help you?" Tails yawns. "Hi. Are Kit Foxx and Sonic The Hedgehog with you?" The raccoon asks. "Yeah, why?" Tails says, adjusting the belt on his robe. "Well, I am the leader of the local freedom fighters, Arthur Brenner." He continues. "I remember you. Come in. They are still sleeping because we left in the night." Tails says to his older friend. After about 10 minutes, Kit crawls out of his sleeping bag. "Oh, hey, Art. What are you doing here?" He asks. "Well, I came with some bad news." Arthur tells his best friend. "What's that?" Kit inquires. "Well, Brian was killed in a car accident last night." "What? Oh no..." Kit says. He pauses for a few minutes. "Do Peter and the others know?" He asks. "No. They don't know a thing about what happened." Arthur says. "Art, while we're here, shouldn't we give the others a briefing about what is going on?" Kit asks. "Oh, right!" Arthur says. The raccoon pulls out a little notepad. "We've relocated to this little place just outside of Milton." Arthur says. "Cambridge? Why there?" Tails asks. "Because it is in the hills, and it is well-hidden." Arthur says. "Plus, it avoids the fighting going on in the heart of Toronto, where we would usually meet." He explains further. "Fighting in Toronto? That's not good." Tails thinks to himself. Just then, Sonic walks out into the main room, where his friends are. "Good morning, Tails, Kit, and...Kit's friend." Sonic says. "Arthur." The raccoon says his name to Sonic, so the hedgehog will be able to remember it better. "Yes, anyways, meet me here. I have to go, I'm running late because we have to figure out a plan to stop the riots." Arthur says, getting out of his seat. "See ya there." Tails says. "Hey, Kit. You look bluer than I do. What's up?" SOnic asks. "Well, a good friend of mine was killed in a car accident last night." the wolf-fox explains. "Oh. I'm sorry to hear that, man." Sonic says. "Thanks." Kit sighs. "Well, I should wake the others." Tails says. Tails walks down the hall, and finds StarFox's room. He knocks. "Starfox, we have to leave." Tails says. "Alright. Just gimme a minute." Rox McCloud says. He then opens the door. "Let's go." Fox says to Tails. They group up in the lobby and leave. within minutes they are out of London, and well on their way to Milton. "We should arrive within two hours." Fox says. "That's good." Sonic and Kit say. They hit the freeway. A black Ford Explorer passes them rather quickly, as if it is in a hurry. It cuts them off and speeds off. Fox holds his ground, but knows that their sedan wouldn't stand a chance if they were to get rammed. "I hate foolish drivers." Fox mutters to himself. "Just forget it. Besides, we need to get to our destination in one piece." Tails says. 20 minutes into their drive, they blow a tire. Fox pulls the Chrysler over to the side. He bravely gets out on the side of Canada's busiest freeway. "Looks like we ran over a nail, Sonic!" He says, pointning to the nail sticking out of the tire. "Hmm." Sonic says. The two other vehichles pull over. "Anything wrong, Sonic?" Walt asks. "Nope. We just blew out a tire, that's all." Sonic says to the wallaby. "I'll get a spare." Tails says, popping the hood. He sees only a can of gasoline, and two bags of guns and ammo. "Uh, there's no spare." Tails says. "Well, then we'll just have to drive on this one as far as we can." Kit says. "Rotor, how fast do you think we can go on either a flat tire or on just an axle?" Sonic asks, ready to just ditch the limp rubber tire. "Uh, maybe 50 Kilometers an hour if you're lucky or going downhill." He says. Luckily, they are on a hill, with a 7 kilometer flat dip in the road before another hill. "Hmm. Well,it's not like we really have a choice here." Fox says. "Want me to get out and push?" Kit jokes. "No one has a spare, so you'll have to just coast for 200 kilometers with your four-way lights on in the shoulder." Sally says. "Can't they just ditch the car and ride with us?" Mike asks. "No can do. No room, and besides, that's Tails' car." Chris answers his brother's question. "Then it's settled. We'll just have to ride it out to the nearest service center." Sonic says, getting back in the back seat of the car. The three cars pull off back on to the freeway. "Tails, I can run faster than this!" He says, watching the cars and trucks fly by and honk their horns. He sees the spedometer creep past 20. 30. 40. 45. 52 Kilometers an hour, and steady, while everyone else is doing close to 120. Tails looks behind him, to the back seat. "Sonic! What in the name of God are you DOING?" Tails asks, as Sonic opens the door and hops out. He immediately hits the ground running. He runs into the next lane. "Need a push?" Sonic jokes. "Sonic, you are scaring me, and this is dangerous. A truck or car is going to hit you, even IF you are going faster than most people." Tails says. "Sonic, I'll admit you are fast, but are you REALLY fast enough to push a 2 ton car?" Fox asks. "Yeah!" Sonic replies. He grabs the center of the real bumper of the Chrysler New Yorker, and starts to run and push it. Tails watches as the car wobbles as it creeps towards the posted speed limit of 60 MPH, or 100 Kilometers per hour. Chris looks in his rear-view mirror. "Hey, Taylor! Stephen! Guys, take a look at this!" He says, as they watch the old car fly by them, with Sonic at the back, running at a modest speed, and lifting the car off of its weak tire. Chris asks Stephen to roll down the window. Sonic's younger son does so. "SHOW OFF!" Chris laughs. Tails then hits the brakes, rather hard, and Sonic hits the back and rolls over the roof, and lands on the hood. "Owww..." He says, rubbing his head. "Sonic! Oh my God! I'm sorry!" Tails says. "Well, that's a first, me running over a car!" Sonic laughs. Sonic looks onward, and sees that the road is obviously blocked off, but why? "Hmm. Construction." Kit says. Sally gets out of the van and walks up to their car. "Is there any way around this?" She asks. "Mmm, I don't think so." Sonic says. "A cement barrier. Interesting." Sonic thinks to himself out loud. "Sonic, NO WAY! We are NOT blasting a hole in the divider. See the trucks flying by on the other side?" Sally tells Sonic. "Well, maybe we can scoot by on the shoulder...or pass through the lanes and eventually get to an off-ramp." Fox suggests. "Or perhaps..." Sonic says, looking at thier flat tire..... "Alright, now, bring the car up slowly..." Sonic says to the tow truck driver. "Sonic, what trick did you pull now?" Sally asks. "I just told the crew that we ran over a nail, and they called a tow truck for us." Sonic honestly says. "Oh. Okay." Sally says. The Freedom Fighters just squeeze in with thier friends and they get off the freeway, which hashorribly delayed them. They get their car fixed up in Kitchener, and drive onward. Chapter II: Planning, Revenge, and Enemies Revealed The Chrysler New Yorker, Ford Explorer and the van pull up to the building at 3245 Preston Drive. Fox and Kit get out. "Let's see if they are there." Kit says, knocking on the door. Arthur opens the door. "Guys, you're 2 hours late." He says. "Sorry, there was traffic, and we blew out a tire." Sonic says. "That's alright. Come in, everyone. Don't be strangers." Arthur says. He shows the Freedom Fighters to the building they have created. "This isn't exactly a big, amazing building." Sonic says. "It is, just most of it is below ground." Kit says. Sonic is amazed. They all step into the basement, and find it to be this huge labratory, almost like a cross between a computer networking area and an airport hangar, with the aircraft and space craft present on the ground. Sonic also sees a few vehicles. "Wow. This place is AMAZING, Arthur!" Rotor says, impressed. "Well, I'm glad you like it." The friendly raccoon replies. He unlocks a door. "Welcome to Area 51 Canada!" He jokes. They walk around. They see some familiar faces, along with a couple new ones. "Hey! There's Peter! How are ya doing?" Tails asks Peter, who is welding the windshiled of a damaged Arwing Space Fighter Craft. "I'm doing good, Tails! It's good to see you guys again!" The grey timber wolf says, pushing his face shield back into place. "You know, I honestly think this outdoes Haven by a LONG SHOT!" Sonic says. "Haven? What's that?" Arthur asks. Tails elbows Sonic. "It's nothing." Sonic covers up. "Oh. Well, I have to show you something." Arthur says. He walks into Richard's computer area, and finds the otter alseep on one of the keyboards. "Rick! Wake up, man." Arthur says, a bit loudly. "Ahh! Huh? What? I'm up!" He says. "Rick. Can you show the Freedom Fighters our newest weapon against terrorists and tyranny?" Arthur asks. "Sure." the otter replies. "Now, you might have seen Peter working on it outside, but here it is." Rick says, pulling up a 3D-rendered diagram of the Arwing, in motion, to show all of its sides. "Wow. That's amazing! Whenwill it be ready for action?" Sonic asks. "Well, hopefully, we won't need to use it. Ever. It can wipe out a city the size of Toronto just by itself, and that makes it a very potent weapon." Rick answers. "Wow." Tails says, skimming through a print-out of its data. "starFox over there used to fly one of these. That's also a reason that we are fixing it up. His crashed, and we're going to get that vulpine airborne once more to help defend us." "It should be a few days before I'm doing any areial stunts, thouugh." Fox says, seeing Peter still fix up the craft. That afternoon, Arthur, Fox, and Sonic have a meeting. "Should I tell them that Brian was killed?" The raccoon asks. "Well, I think so, but I think they would have caught on by now." Fox says. "Yeah, of course you should." Sonic says. Arthur walks out to the Freedom Fighters. "Guys, I'm afraid I have some bad news regarding Brian." He says. "What?" Rick asks. "Well, he was killed in a car accident last night." Arthur says. "I kinda thought that. I had a feeling that something like that happened." Peter says, being the clairvoyant wolf that he is. Rotor then walks up. "It seems suspicious that he was killed right before we arrived. Something's up. I'd really like to see his motor vehicle." Rotor says. "I'll have to call for it to be sent here." Arthur says, dialing a number. Three hours later, a tow truck pulls up, and drops the ruined vehicle off. "Alright. Here is Brian's GMC Jimmy. Do you think you'll find anything?" Arthur asks. "I might." Rotor says, checking the brakes of the silver-dark blue sport- utility vehicle. He checks the rear tire. "Here's something!" He yells, pointing his pen to a small hole in the tire. "What? What is it?" Peter asks. "His tire was shot out with a single bullet, so when he hit freeway speed, his tire would become deflated, and it would blow out." Rotor says. "You know, I think he's right." Rick says. "Hey, Rotor, is it possible that it was sabotage?" Kit asks. "It looks that way." He replies. Rick gets out a laptop, and runs some numbers. He calls Rotor over to assist him. They come up with a digital re-enactment video of what possibly happened. Rick hooks up a display projector to his laptop. Rotor gets out a ruler and points out where the crucial points are, while Rick narrates. "Alright. At 8:30 PM, Brian was with us. He didn't leave our building until about 9:00. That gives our unseen enemy a full half-hour to puncture the tire and sabotage our leader." Rick says. The otter signals for Rotor to take over for the next part. The three Freedom Fighter groups watch onward. At approximately 9:73, Brian hits the interstate. Now, how it didn't blow out for 274 Kilometers is beyond even MY knowledge." Rotor says, pulling up a map of Southern Ontario. "Rotor, could it be that his tires were specifically made to withstand a gunshot, but for only short to medium distances, at a slow speed? Is it possible that they gave out from overheating on the freeway?" Tails asks. "Tails! That's IT!" Rotor says. "His tires blew out, just as he was about to approach his destination, and as you can see by this movie, his car lost control from the blow-out, it spun, hit a car, bounced off a transport, and flipped, landing in teh ditch, exploding. He died instantly, without pain, I assure you." Rotor says. "That's awful. Now we know it's a murder, and we shall bring whoever is responsible to justice." Peter vows. "Why was he driving down south, anyway?" Rotor asks. "He had a cabinet meeting with some other furry leaders of the country, and they decided for the delegates to meet in Windsor, since it was the closed point to a central location, so no one had to travel incredibly far, even though Canada is the second largest nation in the world." Arthur says. "Ah. Like a summit, only on a national scale." Sonic thinks out loud. "Actually, yes. Exactly like that." Arthur says. The whole room falls silent with sadness, grief and anger over their friend's loss. "Sonic, I just want to thank you and your Freedom Fighters for coming to help us." Arthur says, shaking the hedgehog's hand. "Oh, uh, anytime. If you need help, just call us." Sonic says. "One thing I want to know." Arthur says. "And what's that?" Sonic asks. "How did you know we needed your help if we didn't call?" Arthur asks, shedding light on the mystery. "Well, we saw Kit running, and he asid that a civil war broke out, so we came." Sonic says. "Oh, yes. It's true. There are riots in most of Canada's large cities." Arthur says. "Well, it's up to us to restore peace and stop whoever is behind these events." Sonic says. A few minutes later, Tails makes a couple phone calls. "Good news. I think Reynard and his Wolfpack, a few outisde members of the Fredom Fighters, and the Downunda Freedom Fighters are coming to assist us." Tails says. "Cool, but are you sure we are going to need THAT much force?" Sonic asks the vulpine. "Well, it would be good. besides, with a civil war going on, we might need safety in numbers to keep ourselves and our base safe. "Alright. I guess it makes sense." Sonic says. A feathered figure walks stealthfully into one of Toronto's tallest buildngs. He enters his headquarters, and sees an old rival. He backs up a step in fear that this is an ambush. "What are you doing here?" Falco asks to Robotnik. "Why, the same reason you are." He replies. "I know that, but what are you doing in my tower?" Falco asks. "Every good question deserves an answer." Robotnik says, slowly walking from one side of the room to the other, with Falco watching him. "I am here to finally get rid of Sonic and StarFox, as well as YOU, once and for all." He says. "That's what you tink." Falco says, holding his handgun. "It's a stalemate, Robotnik, and like you, I want both heroes as well as you out of the picture." Falco says, pointing the gun at Robotnik. "Well, Since we are in a way both against our enemies, Sonic and StarFix, why don't we call a truce and form an alliance to get rid of them. I would kill Sonic, and you would kill StarFox." Robotnik says. "Hmm. You do have a point. However, am I truly able to trust you?" Falco asks. "Falco, just because we have been rivals doesn't mean we're enemies. Take Sonic and Knuckles. They were rivals, but they co-operated to get rigd of their enemies." Robotnik reminds his rival. "Alright, I call a truce. I just hope that you aren't trying to trick me, Robotnik. If you are, I swear to have you and your swatbots destroyed by my guards." Falco says. They decide to form an alliance. "How do you intend to destroy the hedgehog?" Falco asks. "I plan to use one of their own to do the job for me." RObotnik says. "Ah. A traitor?" Falco inquires. "Yes, and one they will least expect." Robotnik says. "Exxcellent. And what of Fox?" Falco asks Robotnik about how to kill his former ally and team leader. "Easily. I will devise a plan that will ahve his very own Arwing skills be his downfall." Robotnik replies. "Very well." Falco says, looking out of a window. Chapter III: Enter The Flame It is night over Southern Ontario, and our furry heroes are fast asleep. This is a shame, because a terrible danger is heading right towards them at 120 Kilometers per hour. A delivery truck flies down the freeway in the middle of the night. It's lights are on, and it appears to be lit up from a distance. The driver pulls it over to a service center. He gets out. Waiting after a truck pulls away, he walks across the mostly empty parking lot, towards the building. He opens the door, and steps inside. His footsteps are well-heard. THe furries and humans inside hear him. Once they see him, they become scared. Some furry truckers leave the building in fear. He walks up to the counter. "Do you know where I can find Arthur Brenner or Sonic The Hedgehog?" He asks. "No, sir. They might be in Kitchener, but I really don't know where Sonic and Arthur are. I'm just a service center employee." The attendant says. "Yeah, well, thanks anyways." the furry replies as he leaves the building back to his truck. "I'll find them if it takes me all night driving up and sdown the full length of this foresaken road." He mutters to himself. He sees a familiar motor bike follwed by a red pick-up truck pass him on the freeway. "Hmm. I wonder what Reynard and Diablo are doing here?" He wonders to himself. He rolls down the window. "Hey! What are you doing here, Reynard?" he asks. "Well, I recieved a phone call from Tails about him needing some help to train and assist the local Freedom Fighters in Kitchener." The wolf shouts. "Alright." He replies. He rolls his window back up. ABout 30 minutes later, he knows how close he is to Sonic and that he is hot on his trail, and close to safety. He looks to his right. "Kitchener: 50 Km. Cambridge: 52 Km. Toronto: 183 Km." The sign displays. He speeds up because he knows that he is being followed, but he doesn't know who it is that is following him. "Alright Fang, just keep it together, an dif they see you, prentend not to notice anyone." He says to himself. He drives off into the night, hoping to find refuge. Early in the morning, Tails wakes up. "Well, it's a bright new day." he says, stretching. He looks out into the hangar and sees no one is working. "Hmm. everyone must be tired." He sys to himself. He then sees a tired Rick walk out and start making a sandwich for himself. "Hey, Tails." He says, walking by. Tails nods. "WE've got a big day ahead of us. My group and your group are heading to Toronto to try and stop the fighting." He says to himself as he takes out a slice of bread. "That's what I've heard, Rick. Say, uh, how did this all happen, anyway?" Tails asks. "Well, it's a long story and it really began in the 1980's, before we Canadian Furries really knew each other." Rick says. "Oh, so it's a continuing and unsettled dispute." Tails says. "In a way." Rick says, getting a tomato out and kutting it into slices for his sandwich. "Want a tomato sandwich?" The otter asks the fox. "Thanks, but I'm not too hungry." Tails says. Rick then walks over to the sink, and grabs a glass. He then sees Sonic awake. "Hey. Good morning, everyone." Sonic says, sitting down. Sonic yawns. "Rick, just wondering, but will we be armed with anything when we go in to the city?" Sonic asks. "Nope. Unless you mean a hockey stick and a facemask!" Rick laughs. Sonic looks confused. "Sorry. Well, up here, we don't believe in using guns and bullets at first. We're peaceful furries." He tells the hedgehog. "Ooookay." Sonic says. By now, Peter Wolfe appears in the large room where the furries are discussing the day's events. Peter walks out and grabs the newspaper. "Uh oh." He says. "What is it?" Rick asks. The wolf shows the otter the newspaper. The headlines read "TORONTO IN FLAMES AS RIOTS CONTINUE INTO 49th DAY". "That's horrible." Arthur says out of the blue, appearing and wearing his green robe. "Well, we should be able to help the furries and people there. How big is Toronto, anyway? Three or four hundred thousand people?" Sonic asks. "Uh, try around five and a half million people and furries, Sonic." Arthur says. Sonic is utterly amazed of the city's size. "It's the size of the Floating Island, or Detroit!" Sonic says. "Yeah, and being Canada's center for basically everything, we need to get this done with. The sooner, the better." Peter says. "Well, let's go!" Sonic says. He tells the rest of the groups to just relax and build up their strength for later on, when they will need it. They get into their cars. As they drive, they hear over the radio that fighting has spilled over into the rest of the country. "Rioters and Anti-Government protestors have wreaked havoc in Winnepeg last night, burning down a quarter of the city. They are looting and destroying the northern cities of Timmins and Sudbury as we speak. What is left of the Royal Canaidan Mounted Police has set up a road block on Freeway 11 at Orillia. I'm Jason Deere for CICT News, Calgary." The voice says over the radio, with yelling going on in the background. "That's awful." Tails says, shaking his head. "We're almost there." Arthur says, pulling over. Sonic looksaround. They are on one of the busiest roads in Toronto. Arthur and StarFox get out. "What's going on?" Tails asks. "I'm going to do air patrol and keep the skies clear and safe while you guys try to maintain the peace on the ground. I'm like your air support." Fox says. "Cool. Thanks." Sonic says. Fox nods as he steps into his arwing. Arthur unhitches the trailer from his blue Chevrolet Caprice Classic, and he turns it into a ramp. Peter and Rick block the lane as cars drive by. Fox turns the jet turbines in his arwing on, and he blasts off into the sky. "Alright, let's roll." Peter says, shutting the door. Arthur pulls back onto the road with Sonic and Tails running along side the sedan, and sees that some of the other furries are going to help. They turn onto Lakeshore Drive, and Sonic sees that there is smoke billowing from different parts of the city and skyline. "This doesn't seem right!" Sonic yells. Up in the ScotiaBank tower, Falco is pacing the room, while he hears the booming explosions from the outer suburbs of Metropolitain Toronto. "Robotnik, I can't stand it a moment longer! I feel that we should attack NOW!" Falco says. "Patience, my feathered friend. Once we have divided the people of this nation, won't it be that much easier to conquer them?" Robotnik asks. "I agree with you, but it seems they won't get much more divided than this." Falco says. He points out that the current set-up in teams are The Freedom Fighters, The Coalition Of Evil, the Socialist Furries, The Radical Humans, and the Pro-Government Extremists. "I just find it very unlikely that they will even succeed. We have basically conquered the nation. We ALREADY control the Government." Falco says. "Yes, I agree. However, the only thing that is stopping me is the lack of firepower and technology required to bring a nation of this size and number down. We don't even have a real army." Robotnik says. "Don't worry about that. If we control the Government, won't we be controlling the national police forces, like the RCMP?" Falco asks. "Why, yes, I suppose we would be in control." Robotnik agrees. "Well, there's our armed forces!" Falco says. "I never thought of that option. Well done, Falco. We shall have this country, Canada, conquered by nightfall!" Robotnik says. Fang is driving down Kennedy Drive, when he hears an explosion. Sonic and the Freedom Fighters hear it as well. "What was that?" Sonic asks. "I don't know, but it was BIG." Rick says. They see that it was a transport truck on the expressway overhead blowing up from a timebomb. Fang looks at the truck above him just long enough to not see the two cars in front of him. By the time he looks back at the road, he almost hits Sonic and Arthur's car from the side. Sonic sees the truck driving towards him, and jumps very high, narrowly avoiding certain death by mere inches. Fang stomps on teh break and hits the guard-rail at the side of the road. Sonic lands back down on the pavement. "HEY! What's your problem! You almost killed me! Do you even have a liscence?" Sonic yells. "Sonic, I'm sorry! You have GOT to hide me! I'm in grave danger!" Fang pleads to the spiny hedgehog. Sonic just looks at the weasel. "Why the hell should I even help you?" Sonic says, turning his back to him. "Sonic! Please! I know what is going to happen to this country and the people in it, and who is going to do it! I know EVERYTHING about their plans!" Fang says, trying to convince Sonic with the truth. "Alright, if you ARE telling the truth, then what happened in Calgary last night?" Sonic asks. "Sonic, that's unfair! How should he answer that?" Tails yells. "Like in the other large cities, there were riots that were started between the furries and the Pro-Government Extremists." Fang answers, and stuns them all. "He IS telling the truth!" Sonic says, apologizing. Sonic then looks at the truck. "Say, uh, what's in the truck, Fang?" Sonic asks. "Nothing of importance." Fang says, nervously. Sonic slashes the door open with his razor-sharp spines. "Really? That's a whole lotta nothing, Fang!" Sonic says, seeing crates, guns and ammo inside. Arthur tips a box over. "CFB Gagetown, NB?" Sonic asks. "Canadian Armed Forces Base in Gagetown, New Brunswick." Arthur says. "You STOLE guns and supplies from a Military base? Are you DUMB or something?" Sonic yells at the weasel. "Sonic, that's where they were holding me against my will, as a prisoner and hostage." Fang truthfully tells the hedgehog. "Yeah, but you also stole five thousand American Dollars from them. Could THAT be the possible reason they are after you?" Sonic inquires. "I know that they are after me for stealing the guns, truck, and other stuff, but I would only use the money to get to safety, and for food and shelter and gas." Fang says. "Alright. And since this IS Canada, we'll protect ya, but don't get used to it! I know what you did earlier when you were younger, and being Amy Rose's husband DOESN'T CHANGE A THING!" Sonic says. "I don't care. I'll do anyting for you if you help me!" Fang says. "Calm down. Alright. I won't be that harsh on you. You'll be safe with us, ok?" Sonic tells the weasel. "Alright. Thanks, SO much, Sonic! You're a very vailiant hedgehog! I owe you one!" Fang says. Sonic just shakes his head about what he has just gotten himself into, and what possible dangers could arise from this temporary alliance with one of his former arch enemies. They continue eastward towards Toronto's downtown. "So, who are we going up against? A military regime? Dictator? Rich maniac?" SOnic asks. "No. Something FAR worse, that even I am afraid of!" Fang says. Arthur pulls onto Younge Street, followed by Kit's red Oldsmobile station wagon. "ALright, we're going to set up in THAT building." Arthur points to the ScotiaBank building. "Artie, can I speak with you?" Fang asks the raccoon. "Please don't call me that." Arthur sighs. "Sorry. Anyway, you know that building? Well, our oh so beloved enemies are conducting their operations in there." Fang says. "Oh, goody. More complications." Sonic says. "I can sneak in, undetected, Sonic. After all, I AM Fang The Sniper! The world's most infamous, treacharous, and sneaky weasel alive!" Fang says, patting Sonic on the shoulder. Fang grabs his old rifle, and hides behind Kit's station wagon, which is directly across the street from the main entrance and doors. "On my mark." Fang says, holding his armed rifle pointed at the doors. He sees some furries walk out. "Hey, isn't that Falco?" Sonic asks Fox. "Yeah, but what's HE doing HERE? And with Robotnik?" Fox asks. "I dunno, but this doesn't look good." Arthur says. At this time, Fang and Sonic realize that they will not be able to take these guys out on their own. "We're going to need some help, Fox." Rick says. Sonic digs through his leather jacket pockets for a cellular phone he can use. "Here. use mine." Rick says, handing the hedgehog his NOKIA portable phone. "Thanks, Rick." Sonic says. He dials the numbers for the most important furry in the world. "Uh, hello?" The voice says on the other end. "Hey, Knuckles! How are ya, man?" Sonic asks. "Well, I was relaxing at my beachside condo until you called, but nothing much has happened here. You?" Knuckles says to his friend. "Well, we're kinda trying to end a civil war in Canada, wanna help?" Sonic asks. "Sure." Knuckles says. The echidna is sitting on a reclining lawn chair on his back-yard patio, drinking some lemonade, and just relaxing and living the good life like Donald Trump or Bill Gates would. "Thanks." Sonic says. "Anytimne, bro." Knuckles replies, hanging up the phone. "What did he say?" Tails asks. "Is he coming or not?" Arthur and Fox ask. "Oh, Knuckles is coming, and these guys are SCREWED." Sonic says. Suddenly, the phone goes off again. "Yeah?" SOnic asks into the phone. "Oh. Sonic, I just remembered one tiny, little, infinitesimally small detail." Knuckles says. "What?" Sonic asks. "We don't have a way of gettng there." Knuckles says. "Don't worry. We sorta have our own private jet." Sonic says. "WHOA! Alright. Thanks. We'll, uh, see ya later tonight." Knuckles says. Sonic and Knuckles hang up. "Well, I suppose I should get my Arwing set for travel. How far is the Floating Island, anyway?" Fox asks. "It's about 135 miles east off the coast of Miami, Florida. It's half-way between North America and the continent of Mobius. It's near Station Square." Sonic says. "Ah. Alright. I know where it is." Fox says, remembering his reconissance flights over Station Sqare Island and Miami, Florida in the mid 1980's. Fox starts to walk north on Younge Street. "Where are you going?" Sonic asks. "To the airport." Fox replies. Arthur slips away for a few minutes, and no one can figure out where he could be. Suddenly, a blue Chevy Caprice Classic pulls up quite quickly, cuts off a few other cars, and stops right where Fox was walking, on the other side of the street. Arthur rolls down the windows. "Need a lift?" He asks. "Thanks." Fox says to Arthur and Tails, opening the passenger side door. They pull off, amidst the honking of many vehicles in the busy downtown core of Toronto. They arrive at the airport, and pick up the Arwing, where Fox landed it earlier. Arthur pulls out and drives back to where his friends are conducting their operations. "Here goes nothing." He says, starting it up and taking off. This is when Ray The Squirrel calls Sonic, telling him that Fox doesn't need to pick them up. "Why not, bro?" Sonic asks his good friend. "Well, Knuckles can teleport us with the Master Emerald." Ray says. "Alright." Sonic says. Fox hears this news over his radio. "Sonic. Arthur. I'm going to do air-patrolling over the city again." Fox says. "That's good. We'll split into teams for better mobility. Sonic, Tails, Walt, and Fang, I want you to meet up with Knuckles. Canadian Furries, I want you guys to follow me." Arthur says. "Sounds like a good plan." Tails says. They run off. "Alright, Robotnik. They look ready to storm the building. Perhaps we should attack right now?" Falco asks. "Let's wait, shall we?" Robotnik says, as he orders in some of his recruits. "I would like to inbtroduce you to Lightning Lynx, Predator Hawk, and you probably know this furry. He is Wolf O'Donnel of StarWolf." Robotnik says. "Yes. We've met before. And I'm glad to meet you all. I'm Falco." He says. "Now that you all know each other, I wish to alert you all that StarFox is in his arwing, scouting the harbour for any trouble. Since we have a cargo ship coming into the city at 11:35 PM tonight, I want Fox dead, and the city destroyed. We CAN'T afford any mishaps or living Freedom Fighters to stop us!" Robotnik says. "Alright. Let's get rid of that pest of a vulpine." Falco says. "I agree." Wolf says. following Falco out to the garage, where the Arwings are. They take off, one after the other, and fly out into the open airspaces of Lake Ontario. They see tht Fox is flying high above the Toronto Harbour and Lake Ontario, when he sees that he is being followed by two other Arwings. "Oh, no!" He says to himself. "Sonic! We have trouble!" Fox radios in. "What's that?" Sonic asks. "I'm being followed and shot at by two Arwings!" Fox says, sending out an SOS. Fox tries to shake them by flying low over the traffic-clogged streets. It doesn't work, nor does it faze the enemies from risking innocent lives. Fox rties flying close between apartment buildings and office towers. The other arwings simply keep pace, close behind Fox. "Rotor! I need some help! Do you think you can get a grenade launcher and blast one of these guys away?" Fox asks into his radio. Rotor is stuck in traffic on Younge Street, when he sees the Arwings fly overhead. "No can do. We're out of ammo. Plus, I'm stuck in traffic, and I don't want to risk harming bystanders." Rotor says. "Do we have anything to use against these guys?" Fox asks. "Nothing that will harm them." Rotor relays the bad news. "ALright. Thanks." Fox says, knowing that he's on his own for this one. "You aren't getting away, Fox. You've been a thorn in my side for FAR too long." One of the pilots says. He goes to lob a sidewinder right at Fox, but the vulpine pulls up and flies to the right of the missile, thus avoiding an impact. The missile hits the CN Tower head on. Seconds later, the pre-stressed concrete can hold the weight of the structure no longer, and cracks appear. In an instant, it crashes down onto the streets and buildings far below. Rotor and Walt hear a lot of Fire Trucks and emergency vehicles driving towards the scene. They feel helpless, since this is what they basically do for a living. They save lives. Fox is travelling far to fast to notice any of this, because he has two Arwings to deal with. He notices that he is back over the open water. "Your minutes are numbered, Fox!" The other pilot says. "I think I recognize those two voices, like I've heard them from somewhere before, but I don't know who they are, or from where I remember." Fox thinks to himself. The two villains both shoot out the Arwing's vertical stabilizers. "I'm Hit!" He says. Fox takes a good look at the enemies that are flying above him. Falco starts to laugh, as he looks down at Fox, with his jet on fire, going down. He notices that he doesn't have much time left in the air, because his Arwing is damaged. He gets an evil smirk on his face. "I'm going to FINISH YOU OFF!" He says to Fox, who can hear everything that Falco and Wolf say. He tries to just ignore them and thier repeated rammings of his ship, and he just concentrates on flying. SUddenly, he feels a huge bum from the side, and then an explosion. It was Wolf's ship scraping beside Fox's, and then one of Wolf's torpedoes that were launched hitting his ship. He goes into an immidiate and abrupt tailspin. "HA! See you later, Fox! All they'll find is your ship at the deep, dark bottom of the lake, and that's IF they find it! By the time your friends finish searching for your water-logged body, it'll be too late for you and everyone, and we'll have won." Falco laughs, as Fox nears the water surface. He hears one more crash on his ship. Wolf shot out his fuel tanks with his missiles, and they exploded. That explosion nearly rips Fox's Arwing apart, close to blasing it out of the sky, and thatsends it into a frenzied, gliding, free-fall downward into the cold, murky depths of the smallest of the Great Lakes. "Oh GOD!" He says, a mere second before impact on the calm Lake. Crash. The glass breaks. The metal hull crumples slightly, and the cold water rushes in. He tries to shield his face, but fails. He gasps and holds his breath as his craft sinks quickly. He tries to unbuckles himself. It is jammed. He tries to find his oxygen canister. No where to be found. He tries to find his knife. He starts to black out. "This is it." He says to himself. He goes into unconsciousness as the glass shatters from a swift punch. Fox's restraining harness is ripped off, and he is grabbed by his shirt. All he knows next is that he is onboard a barge on the lake, with Knuckles standing above him, to his right, and his girlfriend, Krystal, close to him on his left side. He also watches a fighter jet fly overhead, westbound, apparently in pursuit of the two other Arwings. He looks around him, and sees Arthur, Rick, Fang, and the Chaotix, along with Sonic and Tails. "What happened?" Fox asks. "You were drowning when Knuckles here jumped in and saved you." Ray says. "I-I was? thanks, Guardian." Fox says. "No problem." Knuckles nods. Fox looks up and begins to notice that it is getting dark. he can see the reflection of the city on the lake. "WHat's the time?" Fox asks. "About 7:30 PM. You were unconscious for about 6 hours." Rick says. "God.. And what about the city? I saw a missile strike the CN Tower. How many people are dead?" Fox asks. "We don't know for sure, but it's going to be a high death toll." Tails says. Fox just closes his eyes. "If I had just let that missile hit my craft, instead of being so selfish, I would have been the only one dead." Fox says. "Fox, if you let that missile hit you, your craft would have exploded, killing you, and it would have flowin into the tower, in flames. You still would have died." Krystal says. "I don't know about that. I mean, what I did was very...how do I put this...Anti-Heroic. I was selfish, and I thought of only my own safety." Fox says, sitting up. "Nonsense, Fox. You did what any fighter pilot would have done." Rick says, trying to make the fox feel better. "Fox, you are still a hero. You tried to valiantly defend the city from those pilots, and most furries would be too frightened to go up. I think you should get the Order Of Canada for your efforts." Arthur says. "A medal for failure?" He asks. "No, no. It credits you for your bravery. I know I would have been frightened up there." Arthur continues. "Yeah, I was. I guess you have a point. One thing, though: I was NEVER in it for a medal." Fox says. He can sense that everyone already knew that, however. "Let's get back to the base. Kit and Walt are probably bored stiff." Arthur says. Chapter IV: Head Games Fang looks around the corner. All he sees is smoke and dust from the explosion and collapse of th CN Tower earlier. "Alright. Nothing here. I guess it's time for me to g--" Fang says, when he is grabbed by Wolf and Falco. WOlf pulls out his gun. "Falco has his hand over Fang's mouth, so he can't scream for help. "Alright, Fang. Time to fess up." Falco says. "For what?" Fang asks. "DON'T play dumb with me, you stupid weasel!" Falco yells. "Where is the Master Emerald?" He growls. "How should I know?" Fang asks. "DON'T play dumb with me!" Falco yels, grabbing Wolf's gun, and pressing it into Fang's forehead. "I'm going to blow your brains out if you don't tell me where it is! I've already killed Fox today, and I sure as hell won't care ONE BIT if I kill YOU!" Falco says. Fang starts to sweat. He goes to reach for his knife, but WOlf kicks it out of his hand. Falco is ready to pull the trigger. "ALRIGHT! I don't know where the Master Emerald is, but what would you say if I can get you Sonic The Hedgehog?" Fang pleads. "Keep talking. I'm listening." Falco says. "Well, I'm working with Sonic right now, and he is trying to protect me from you guys. I went to him for protection. Now, he goes wherever I go, so if I am able to lure him into a trap, you could catch him and murder him, roboticize him, torture him, or do whatever you want with him." Fang says. "Yes. And what would I have to pay you?" Falco asks. "All I would want is to never be bothered by you guys again. You know, get off any debts I have." Fang says. "Alright. Just a second." Falco says. He turns to Wolf O'Donell. "Do you think this is worth it?" Falco asks the wolf. "Yes, but how can we tell if this weasel is LYING? He's a weasel, and he has a reputation." Wolf says. "It's a win-win situation. If he brings me Sonic, I'll let him go. If he doesn't, I'll electrocute him." Falco says. "Yes, but what if he tries to save him after?" The wolf inquires. "We don't have to worry about that. If he does, we'll have Sonic on OUR side, and then he'll kill his 'friend', Fang the Sniper." Falco says. "Sounds worth it." Wolf replies. "Alright, Fang. We'll let you off. But you have until tomorrow at Midnight to bring Sonic to us. Dead or Alive, it doesn't matter." Falco says. "Oh, and if Fox managed to somehow survive, he will gladly suffice if you can't get Sonic." Falco says. He then shoves the gun barrel up to Fang's muzzle. "But let THIS be a warning to you. If you skip town or dissappear or betray me, I WILL come after you. I'll first kill Sonic, then Amy, then YOU!" Falco says, shoving the gun into Fang's nose. "Now, get out of my site before I change my mind and murder you myself!" Falco says. Fang grabs his hat and runs down the now dark and puddle-filled alley. "F*ck, Knackery! What have ya gotten yerself into NOW?" He asks himself, and saying his full name out loud. "I gotta....KILL...SONIC??? I don't know if I can do it." He says. "And what will Amy and the others say? How will I manage to even BREAK this to her? She's a big fan of Sonic." He asks, stopping his jog. "My son Warren will look at me and say 'what does MY father do for a living? He betrays and murders'. The others won't forgive me, I know it! I'll become an outcast. Sonic's sons will kill me for SURE if I harm their father." Fang says, starting to sit down. He grabs his hat. "Stephen and Alex will rip me apart. I won't even blame them if they do." He says, shaking his head under his pulled-down hat. "But if I DON'T, They'll kill Sonic just to come after me, and kill me, so Sonic dies either way." He thinks to himself. "Unless, I'M the one to kill Sonic." Fang says. He gets up. He looks around to see if anyone is around. No one. He continues running until he sees the Freedom Fighters. "Hey. Let's roll." Fang says, getting in the car. A familiar fox is sitting in his living room in Downtown Philadelphia, watching a bit of television. "I wonder what's on." he says, flipping through the channels. Suddenly, he sees a newsbreak. "Breaking news at WNBC at this hour, as what appears to be a missile has struck the CN Tower in Toronto, Ontario. THe death toll stands at 51,243." The newsperson says. "Oh no. That's horrible." He says. "Falco Lombardi and Wolf O'Donell are to blame for these acts." The newsperson continues. "Hmm. Falco and Wolf? That's NOT good! This now threatens my country, and as the President of The United States, I have to defend it!" He says, geting his overcoat on. "And since I have friends up in Canada, this is personal." He continues, as he waits in the elevator. He is met up by his guards. "Where shall we be taking off, Mister President?" One asks. It is Hershey the Cat, from the Furry Armed Forces. SHe is helping out with US-Knothole relations. "Land me right at Pearson International Airport." The fox says. Shortly after, a parade of black US Marshals vehicles drive through the city, towards the Philadelphia Aiport, where Air Force I is waiting. Once airborne, he is greeted by Arthur and Kit. "President Rask, thank you for coming here on such short notice." Arthur says. "That's not a problem, Arthur." Rask says. "Sir, may I ask you a question?" Kit asks. "Kit, we've known each other for 4 years. just call me Rask." He says. "Okay. Anyways, I can't really figure out why you are involved in this." the wolf-fox asks his friend. "Well, Falco and Wolf are bad furries, and they pose an immediate threat to the United States. Also, I like Canada, and I don't want to see my friends and allies getting hurt. You have my support." Rask replies. "Thanks, much. Heh, it's like the've awaken a sleeping giant..." Kit laughs. "Exactly. Think of this as peace-keeping aid." the fox says. "I don't owe you anything, do I?" Kit asks, jokingly. "Nah. Seeing as you're a friend, I'll just put it on your tab." Rask says. Kit and Rask sign off of their uploaded telecommunications link. "Well, it looks like things just got a whole lot better!" Arthur and Kit say. Since it's now around 10:30 at night, everyone is about to call it a day. "Amy, you wouldn't hate me or be angry with me if I told you something bad that hapened to me today, would you?" Fang asks his wife. "Sure. You know I'll love you no matter what, Fang." Amy Rose says. "Yeah. But this is a dark secret. It happened to me today." Fang says. "What is it?" Amy asks gently. "Falco and Wolf tried to kill me today." Fang says. Amy gasps and hugs Fang. "I'm alright, for now Amy." He says, calmly. "What do you mean 'for now'?" Amy asks. "Well, they said that they'd kill me if I didn't kill Fox or Sonic The Hedgehog." Fang says. "You didin't say yes, did you?" Amy asks, sounding afraid, and looking Fang in the eye. "Yes. I did. But I only did it because they said they'd kill you and Warren if I didn't. I feared for your safety, Amy." He says, hugging her. "Fang, you have to get a way out of this." Amy says. "Maybe I should just put myself in Sonic's place." Fang says, burying his head in his pillow. "Fang, why did this happen? Now, Sonic is in danger." Amy says. "Well, I escaped from them, and stole a lot of things to escape, and now, since I'm somehow a key player in this whole cherade, they're after me." Fang says. "Fang. Don't do it. Please!" Amy begs Fang. "I'll think of something, don't worry. Even if it KILLS me!" Fang says. Amy shudders at those last few words. The next morning, Fang sees Sonic teaching his sons Alex and Stephen he runs so incredibly fast. Fang stretches his right arm over his shoulder, and towards his backpack. "Yeah, I could do this right now. But not in front of his own sons. THat would be undignified. Only a coward would gun down a father in front of his sons." Fang says, releasing his grip on the barrel of his machine gun. "Besides, there are too many witnesses." Fang says, looking around. He walks up to Ray and Mighty. "Hey. What's up?" he asks the two Chaotix members. "Nothing much." Ray says. "Hey. I have this problem. Can I ask you two?" Fang inquires. "Sure. WHat's the problem?" Mighty asks. "Well, there's this furry I know that has gotten himself into trouble, and in order for him to get out, he has to kill one of his friends, that everyone loves, or else he and his family will be killed, along with the person that has to die. He has this choice of either putting that furry up to die, another of his friends, or himself. He feels like areal idiot for getting into a mess like this in the first place. What should I...tell my friend?" Fang asks the hypothetical question. "Ooh. That's above my head. Well, what I'd do, is I'd put myself up to die, and go out as a hero." Ray said. "Yeah. Better to go out with a bang and everyone loves you, than out silently, and everyone hates you, right?" Mighty says. Fang begins to look nervous. "Uh, yeah. Thanks, guys." He says, turning around, and walking away. "I wonder what that was about?" Mighty asks Ray. "Dunno, bro. He looked scared to Hell, though." Ray says. "Yeah. I put myself in Sonic's place, and die. That way, everyone will say 'Fang's dead? Oh, well. He deserved it. He was a scumbag.' Amy'll cry forever, though. Damn, this is troublesome!" He says to himself. Fang looks back to where Sonic and his sons were. "Hm. It's just Sonic, now. I could end this right here." he says, getting his rifle out, and hiding in the bush. He is about to pull the trigger on his sniper rifle, when Sally walks out, and blocks his clear shot. "Dammit! Princess Sally is in the way!" He says to himself. He waits a second. Sonic's wife moves, and Fang has his clear shot again. "Say good-bye, Sonic. You won't get another chance." Fang says to himself. Now, as he has the perfect opportunity to kill, he has a strange feeling. Remourse. "I can't do it. I-I don't know why." Fang says. He puts his rifle away, and gets out of the bush. "Sonic! Can I speak with you in a few minutes?" Fang shouts from across the field. "Sure!" Sonic replies. "Sonic, this isn't like any war we've fought before, so I want you to be on your guard. Anyone here can be a spy or an enemy." Sally says to her husband. "Don't worry! I'm faster than lightning! More deductful than a fox! I'm Sonic The Hedgehog!" he replies to Sally. "Still, just be careful." She says. "Alright. I will." Sonic says. He walks up to Fang, a few minutes later. "So, what was it you wanted to talk to me about?" Sonic asks, walking with Fang. "Well, I was wondering if you could help me out in a BIG way." Fang asks. "Sure. What do you need help with?" Sonic asks. "Well, it's a bit complicated." Fang says. "It's alright. I'm very smart." Sonic says. "I'm sorry I have to do this, Sonic! I really am!" Fang says, as he grabs his gun. "Huh?" Sonic asks as he turns around. All he sees is Fang hit him in the face with his rifle. Fang hits the hedgehog very hard, and Sonic is rendered unconscious. "God...I can't believe I did that." Fang says. "Perhaps I should just finish the job." He asks himself. He notices that SOnic is bleeding a bit. "It's nothing. Just bring him to Falco, and he'll murder him." Fang reminds himself. He picks up Sonic, and carries him to the place that Falco said to bring him. "Alright, Falco, here's Sonic. Just take him and go. I can't live with myself. I'm going to hang myself now." Fang says. Falco and Wolf grab him and pull him into the vehicle they are in. "Where do you think you were going?" Wolf asks. Fang is about to speak when Falco interrupts. "You didn't think we'd let you miss out on us robiticizing Sonic, did you?" Falco asks. "Uh, no." Fang replies. They arrive at their underground lair. "I thought you were in that tower." Fang says. "We actually ran things above ground until the CN Tower collapsed yesterday. We now carry out our plans in the Underground City." Falco says. They get out, and Fang ties Sonic's hands together. "Good. Now, throw him in the roboticizer, while he's still unconscious." Falco says. They do just that. Sonic begins to regain consiousness in the roboticizer. He can see Fang, standing with Wolf and Falco, although his vision is very blurry. He then sees Robotnik walk over to them and congratulate Fang for his 'good work'. Sonic tries to stand up, but he only gets up on one foot, like kneeling. Falco walks over, and turns it on. They hear Sonic yell in pain. "Hedgehog, you don't know HOW long I've wanted to do THAT!" Robotnik says. About 5 minutes later, Sonic steps out of the roboticizer. However, it isn't Sonic, for the Blue Blur is no more. It is Mecha-Sonic. "YESSS!" Falco says, ecstatic that that the roboticizer actually worked. Fang runs off. "Hey! Fang's escaping!" Wolf says. "Let him. He can't do much of anything." Falco says. "Well, just so he doesn't betray us, or try to rescue Sonic, we should kill him." Wolf says. "If you want." Falco says. "Lightning Lynx! Fredator Hawk! Ramond Kenton! I want you three to find Fang The Sniper, and murder him." Falco says. "Yes, sir!" They say, running off. Fang arrives back at the headquarters, when he sees Amy Rose. "Fang, please tell me you didn't do it! Please tell me Sonic isn't roboticized!" SHe begs to her husband. He looks down, then at his gun and hands, then finally at Amy's face. "I did." The sleazy weasel says with regret. "Oh, Fang." She says, shaking her head. Sally walks up to Amy. "Have you seen Sonic? He's been gone for a long time. I'm worried. He should have been back hours ago." Sally says. Fang begins to get nervous. A drop of sweat rolls down his forehead and lands on his nose. "Alright. I have a confession. I rooticized Sonic!" Fang says to Princess Sally. "You WHAT?" She asks. "I'm sorry! I was threatened by Falco and Wolf that if I didn't, they'd kill my family!" He says. Sally sees Rick and Arthur walking in the distance, talking. Sally calls them over. "What is it, Princess?" Rick asks. "Fang is responsible for the roboticization of Sonic The Hedgehog." Amy says. Rick and Arthur look at Fang. Rick grabs the weasel. "Hey, HEY!" Fang says. "Sir, You are under arrest." Rick says. "This isn't happening. Rick can't arrest me." Fang says. "Oh, yes I can! I am a Royal Canadian Mounted Police Officer, and Roboticizing a furry is basically murder." He says. Arthur leads Fang away, back into the compound. "Rick. What if I were to get Sonic back here and have you guys restore him? Would you then let ee go?" Fang asks. "I think that sounds reasonable." Rick saysm, unhandcuffing Fang. The weasel knows that the otter has a gun, like he does, and he isn't afraid to use it, much like he is. "Alright. Here we go." Fang says. Fang shows that the plan is to capture Sonic in a maze of Microwave towers near Guelph, because the frequencies will confuse him greatly. "Now, all I need is a way to get him follow me once I'm out in the open." Fang says, studying his idea with the otter. "You know, you COULD ask Mighty, Ray, Antione, and Walt to help out. I'm not good at ALL with planning. I make good ideas, but I never really incorporate logic into them." Ricksays. "Yeah, maybe I will. Hey, thanks for letting me out. I GUARANTEE it won't be a mistake!" Fang says. "I hope not. For YOUR sake." Rick says. "Ray, can I speak with you?" Fang asks. "Uh, sure." the flying squirrel replies. "Listen. I roboticized Sonic, and now he's going to destroy the city and he's going to try and kill me. I need you to cover for me while I set up a trap for him." Fang says. Ray is stunned, and angered. "Fang, you got yourself into this mess, so get yourself out of it." Ray replies. "Ray. I've run out of ideas. I'm at the end of the line." Fang says. "Alright. I'll help you." Ray says. "First, we'll need a car. Preferrably a FAST one." Ray says. He signals for Mighty, Walt, and Antoine to come over. "We'll need some rope. We're gonna need some distractions." Ray says. "I can get us a car. That's not a problem." Mighty says. "I have some ropes." Walt says. "Good. Now, I was looking towards the sun, and I think we have our plan." Ray says. The group is silent for a second. "Here's the plan: Fang climbs one of those radio transmitters. He perches himself up top as a look-out. He waits for Sonic to arrive, and tackles him to the ground. That's where Walt and Antoine run in and restrain him. We then lock him in the trunk of the car, and restore him." Ray says. "That is clearly the worst plan I have ever heard." Walt says. "Whatever. Let's just go." Fang says. They overhear that on the television, Sonic has destroyed most of Toronto. "That's horrible! We HAVE to stop him as soon as possible!" Ray says. The furries run out and execute their plan. They arrive at the microwave transmitters along the freeway, between Kitchener and Milton. It is almost sunset, around 5:30 PM. Fang gets out of the car. He looks up. He grabs his knife, puts it in his teeth, and climbs the 120-meter pole. He waits, looking around for Sonic, for hours. "Damn. It's dark now, and Sonic STILL hasn't shown up." Ray says. "Well, I'm cold." Walt says, checking his watch. Just then, they see what is like a blue metallic meteor streak across the sky overhead. "There he is!" Ray points towards Sonic. Fang turns around and kicks Mecha-Sonic in the stomach, stunning him for a second. Fang grabs the hedgehog, and throws him towards the ground. Walt and Mighty hold Sonic down and Restrain him. "Let's go. Mission Accomplished." Ray says. "I can't believe it actually WORKED." Fang says, getting in. Ray pulls out onto the now empty and deserted freeway, and speeds along at a cozy 200 Kilometers Per Hour. The Freedom Fighters return to the base. "Can he be restored?" Ray asks. "He SHOULD be able to be restored." Rick says, while Peter checks the stats on Mecha-Sonic. "Once he is out, should we arrest him?" Antoine asks. "No. If anything, FANG should be arrested!" Arthur says." Sonic walks out of the Roboticizer. He turns his head and surveys the room. He stops at Fang. "YOU!" Sonic says. "Now, Sonic. He DID outsmart them and help us get you back here." Mighty says. Sonic pauses. "I'll keep an eye on you." Sonic says to the weasel. He then speaks out to the rest of the furries. "Guys, listen. When I was roboticized, I gained access to their plans. They plan on killing everyone in the country and invading the United States!" Sonic addresses his allies. "That's NOT going to happen! Not on MY watch!" Fox says, entering the room with Rask and Kit. "I don't know what is going to happen, but they said that something HUGE is in the works for later on and even tonight is 'something special and top-secret'. I don't like what is happening." Sonic says, shaking his head. "Neither do we." Rask says. Chapter V: Situations Deteriorate A familiar black caped bat looks out his window in Montreal. "Hmm. There's a destroyer floating downstream." He says to himself. He then gets a premonition that he should call his friends about that ship. First, he looks at the ship very closely through binoculars, to see if his instincts are right. "That's not a Canadian Navy Battlecruiser! What's going on?" He asks himself as he dials the number to Arthur's phone. Arthur picks it up. "Hello?" Arthur asks. "Art. It's me, Rob. Listen, a ship disguised as the HMCS Victoria is heading your way. It's NOT a battleship, and I think it has something to do with these riots that are heading this way!" Robert says, starting to panic. Sonic overhears the conversation. "Listen. I have a feeling that it's got explosives or somehting else REALLY bad on it! It will probably enter Toronto TONIGHT!" He says. "Alright. IF you want, we'll check this ship out far from the city." Arthur says. "Freighter? Tonight? OH MY GOD!" Sonic yells out. "What?" Arthur and Rick ask. "I just remembered now! That ship is loaded with nuclear weapons, and Falco is going to walk aboard, set a timer to 30:00, and blow the ship up, taking the city with it. Wolf O'Donnel is in his Arwing, flying overhead, defending it, along with 3 other battleships that are ready to fight!" Sonic says. "Is this true?" Rick asks. "Yes." Sonic says, getting his leather jacket on. "Rob. Do you see any other ships with it?" The raccoon asks his friend. "Uh, jsut a second...yeah! One's a destroyer, and the other two are cruisers!" Rob says. "Oh, shit! We've got to get out of here!" Arthur says. Rick faints. "Where are we gonna go? Ottawa? Windsor? Philadelphia? They probably have the borders sealed off, and the freeways that lead out of the city blocked, probably with a path to Montreal under seige, as well." Peter says. "THAT'S IT!" Arthur says. "What's it?" Sonic and Kit ask. "SImple. They've done a roundabout along the Lakes form the west, expecting us to do a final stand in Windsor or London. Well, they've got another thing coming when we hold ourselves up in Mntreal!" Arthur says. "Good plan. One tiny thing: how do we get there with our equipment, all in one piece?" Fox asks. "That can be done WITH EASE." Rask says. Knuckles walks in, overhearing this conversation. "We can't fight them. Perhaps we should just get out of town." Knuckles says. "It's almost sunset!" Sheila says, looking out the window. "ALright. here's the plan. We get some big trucks to transport the arwings, computers, and equipment, the Canadian Freedom Fighters get some military trucks to protect ourselves in case of an attack, and then, we get out just before 10:00 PM, when that ship is supposed to arrive." Fox says. "I have two questions: doesn't running like this make us all cowards? And, who made you the leader?" Rask asks. "Mr. President, I am merely offering a suggestion. I'm not expecting anyone to actually go through with this. Arthur and Sonic are still the ones in control." Fox says. Rick, Rask, Peter, and Kit leave to find a couple trucks that they can use. Fox unfurls a map of Southern Ontario And Quebec that he had. "Okay, here's where Falco and their armies, and the rioters are." Fox says, drawing a red line with his marker from Val D'Or to Barrie, then across to Sudbury. Here's where we are, just west of Brampton. Here's Montreal. It's surrounded by hills, and it is on 4 main islands. It's a perfect area for a Last Stand." Fox says. "Yeah, but why don't we hide out in Ottawa?" Sonic asks. "Well, technically, we can, but we'd have to work a LOT harder at defenses, and we just don't have the time, furries, or resources." Fox says. "You know, we should get those four back in here. THey know how to plan things like this." Arthur says. As soon as the raccoon finishes his statement, the other furries show back up. "Okay. Here's where we were informed that the ship was, right?" Arthur asks everyone. "Yeah. It's now near Salisbury-De-Valleyfiend." Rask says. "That's close to Montreal." Fox says. "Here's the path of it, and here's where Falco and Wolf have possibly laid out some armoured divisions for us." Arthur says, drawing a green line at the Ontario-Quebec Border. "Well, we could skip around it and go through Ottawa." Kit says, tracing his finger along highways 416, 417, and Autoroute 40. "True, but this might just be a bluff, and he could probably have his troops on A-40." Sonic says. "I agree. Let's just stick to A-20. It goes from here, right into the heart of Montreal." Rick says, remebering his UK Army training. "What if there ARE no opposition while driving out there?" Rask asks. "If we had a spyplane, we could get some info." Peter says. "I can call up a USAirforce Pilot to fly out to where this area is and see if there are army divisions out there." Rask says. "Cool." Knuckles says. Peter walks out again. "Alright. Worst case scenario: The ship blows us up when we catch up to it somewhere between Cornwall, and Belleville. What will we do?" Arthur asks. "Wouldn't we be more worried about rioting furries and humans, and Pro-Government Extremists than some ship laden with nuclear weapons?" Kit asks. "I'm with Kit, although my troops will interpret this as an attack on Americans in Upstate New York." Rask says, as he dials the Pentagon for a reconnissance jet. "Time's running out, people! We ned a plan, and we need it FAST!" Arthur says. "Hey. The leaders in World War II were in a situation almost as bad as this. They pulled through." Sonic says to the bewildered raccoon. "Yeah, I suppose." Arthur says. "One more compounding problem." He says. "What?" Everyone asks. "Quebec's language is French. Aside form Kit, who speaks french well?" Arthur asks. "I do." Rask says. "So do Walt, Antoine, and Rick." He continues. "Good. Now, all we can do is wait for Peter to arrive with--" Arthur says, when suddenly, he hears an airhorn go off. "ACK!" Peter says, jumping up into the air. RIck catches him, and puts him down. "You're too nervous, bro." Rick says. Peter nods his head, looking all dishevelled. "What is that?" Arthur asks. Rasksteps outside. Peter sits on the roof of a Peterbilt. "Is this what you wanted? I mean, I can go look for a Kenworth if you want." Peter says. "That's actualy pretty good. Thanks, Pete." Arthur says. "It even has an extended 65-foot trailer and it is taller than normal. We should ba able to cram almost everything into this thing." The wolf says. "That's great to hear." Fox says. Rask looks at his watch. "Hmm. 8:04 PM, and it's already sunset." Rask says to himself. "8:04? THat means we have only 2 hgours to get out!" Rick says, grabbing some equipment. "Now, how are we going to take apart two Arwings, and manage to fit them BOTH in the trailer?" Fox asks. "Well, we won't. We'll have to sacrifice one." Arthur says. "No way. Those are very good planes." Kit says. "I'll fly one as air cover again." Fox says. Within 40 minutes, the entire building is cleaned out. "I can't believe we did it, and still have time and room to spare." Arthur says. "Well, we won't have time to spare if we just stand here and talk." Rick says, getting into the station wagon with Kit and Rask. They take off, with their new Mobile Command Center trailing right behind them, on the freeway. Suddenly, they see the ship heading down the river. "Oh, Fudge!" Rask says, pointing towards the lake. "It's EARLY!" Rick says. They watch as it floats into the harbour. They continue. As Peter drives, he sees a white flash, and knows not to look. "Oh, no." Arthur says to himself. "Don't worry we're gonna get them back in Quebec." Sonic says. They eventually arrive in Kingston, Ontario, a 4 hour drive from both Toronto, AND Montreal. "Why are we stopping?" Tails asks. "Well, I want to make sure there aren't any of Falco's troops out there. You know, he could be watching and listening." Sonic says. Rask sees the black USAirforce plane fly overhead. "Allclear, allies. You're safe from here to Montreal." The pilot radios down. "That's the best news I've heard in a LONG time." Rask says. Everyone agrees. "Sir! They have found out about our ship plan. They have fled." Wolf says to Falco and Robotnik, and handing Falco a letter. "What? You're joking, right?" Falco asks. "NO, sir. I am DEAD SERIOUS." Wolf says. "Well, this might not cost us dearly, but we will HAVE to be careful with our information and the way that we handle things like that." Falco says. Wolf nods. "By the way, where were our enemies reported to be last headed?" Falco asks. "Montreal, sir." Wolf says. "I KNEW IT!" Falco yells. "I'm afraid I don't understand." Wolf says. "MOntreal is on an island. If we blow up all of the bridges to it, they will be starved into submission! They'll WANT to surrender after what I do to them!" Falco laughs. "Sir, with all due respect, may I ask you why you are after Fox?" Wolf asks. "you mean he's still ALIVE?" Falco yells. "Well...yes." Wolf replies. "F*ck, Wolf! What are you doing to us?" Falco asks. "Sir, I bet this won't even affect our plans for global, and eventually universal, domination." Wolf says to reassure his ally. "You know, this is about to get serious. I mean, we have to deal with Falco, Wolf, Stryker, AND Robotnik?" Sonic says. "Yeah. I didn't know they were all working TOGETHER on this one. If they try to go for the Emerald, we're screwed!" Knuckles says. "Hypothetically, say they DO get the emeralds. What happens?" Arthur asks. "Easy. Zey turn into zaire ultra-forms, kill everyone, and establish a new order." Antoine says, repairing his gun. Kit and Rick signal for everyone to stop. "What's going on?" Sonic asks. "We're at our new destination." Rick says. "Oh." the hedgehog replies. The wolf-fox and the otter get out of their vehicles, and knock on the door of the apartment. "No one is here." A french accent says. "Dude, it's US!" Kit says. Steele removes the piece of wood from the glass, allowing him to see the wolf-fox standing there. "Oh. Kit! I apologize! Come in." he says. They walk in side. "So, what brings you to Montreal?" He asks. "Well, Toronto was destroyed, and we have some enemies that might be stronger than we are." Kit says. "Oh, no." Steele says. "We have to first find out where their Headquarters is." Rask says. "I think that it will be in a location too hard or delicate to attack conventionally, probably with a lot of people." Sonic says. "The thing is, we won't even know where they are until it's too late." Fox says. "Say we get attacked here. What will happen?" Steele asks. "Well, we would have a hard time fleeing, or defending people." Sonic says out loud. "We should destroy the bridges surrounding the city, and build a wall, so no one can get in OR out." Walt says. "Yeah, but then we can be bombed from above." Fox says. "Well, we COULD install anti-aircraft guns, and equipment to launch SCUD missiles." Rick says. "I'm with the otter on this one. We need defenses, AND offenses to defend our freedom." Rask says. "Alright. First, we should have a special vote on this, as well as a meeting." Sonic says, trying to follow the rules of diplomacy. "Alright." Walt and Fox say. Very quickly, a council is formed to plan for defense of Montreal, in the furturistic-looking Dorval International Airport, about 25 Kilometers away. "Alright. Everyone is here. I call the first International Freedom Committee to order." Sonic says. "What is our first task at hand?" Knuckles asks. "Well, first thing is to get all those planes out." Sonic says, seeing a few Boeing 747-400's out on the runway. "That can be done." Rick replies. "We also need to establish contact with the United States and Knothole." Tails suggests. "Already on it." Kit says, unpacking an old camera. "Next on our agenda, we have to decide who fights, and who looks after the city. There are a lot of us, but there are undoubtably more of our enemies." Sonic says. "Well, I think everyone up here can be useful in a strike. We should also let Princess Sally and the Chaotix handle some expeditions, if they are needed to, but we shouldn't let anyone else risk their lives out there." Knuckles says. "Very well. Motion passed." Rick says. "Alright. Let's tell the others our plan and attempt to save the people here." Sonic says. They leave the airport. Chapter VI: Evil Explodes "Sonic, THAT's a plan?" Sally asks the blue hedgehog after being told the plan to isolate Montreal. "Soneek. Even I have my doubts about zis plan, even though eet ees a good one." Antoine says. "We already had a vote. Besides, we think it's too risky to do a normal attack." Sonic explains. "Alright. But I think the Freedom Fighters are going to be PISSED about you telling them to basically sit on the side-lines." Sally says. Sally, it's just in everyone's best interests." Sonic replies. "I know, but we're just used to going into battle as a team, not as a cheering squad." Sally says. "I know." Sonic says. "Sonic. Sally. I honestly hate to interrupt you, but we should get some explosives, building tools, cement, and equipment if we want to secure this city." Knuckles says. "Hey. we didn't go over this with the furries and people here. Do they mind?" Sonic asks. "Arthur has already taken care of it." Knuckles says. "Good." Sonic says. Sonic and Walt string explosives around all but one of the city's 14 bridges. Walt strings explosives, and Sonic blocks traffic. Within a matter of minutes, the bridges are destroyed. "There. Now, we need some debris and heavy machinery." Walt says, walking back towards their meeting place. Once they arrive, they decide to have dinner and plan how to defend the city. A shadowy figure is walking thorugh the streets of the city, when he sees that Sonic and the Freedom Fighters have planned to defend the city. he sees that people and furries are walking rather quickly, because they fear an aerial strike and being caught in the open. He then gets an idea. "Wolf. Come in. This is Paul. Listen. I think I know the plan they are going to use." He says into his communicator. "Really?" Wolf asks. "Yes. Just leave it to me, and I can set panic into the people here. I'm pretty sure that if I play my cards right, that I can actually convince this city that Sonic and his allies are evil, and we are the good guys." He says. "Good work. This will even be the perfect distraction for us so we can sneak into New York City and rob the banks blind of their gold!" Wolf says. "I don't see why we need the gold in the first place." Paul says. "It's so we can buy our way into Western Europe, steal their weapons, and conquer them. This will also allow us to launch a war on the United States and the Furries of Knothole, and we will win." Wolf explains. "Ah. Alright." Paul says. "Let's see your plan in action, though." Wolf says. He finds a cab, and stands on the roof of it. "People! Have you noticed that Sonic, Arthur, and their Freedom Fighters have basically come into your beloved city, and destroyed it?" He yells out in french. People start to stop and take notice. "They have decieved you, told you lies, and they aren't acting as if they care about you!" He continues. "How can we tell you are speaking the truth?" A furry named Trent asks. "Because I am the only one here brave enough to utter these lies to the public. I shall defeat Sonic, and restore your city." He says. He sees a blue figure walking across the last bridge on a scout mission. "And it won't even take long." He laughs. "Sonic. We need you to go on a scouting mission, and patrol the outer shore of the river surrounding this island." Sally says. "Sure." Sonic says. He walks out, when he then sees a jackal walking. He has a gun in his hand. Sonic sees that the armed furry is going to kill him. Sonic runs out onto the bridge. Paul shoots the hedgehog in the leg, and Sonic goes down. He then walks up, and points the gun at Sonic. He is standing over the hedgehog, ready to end his life without caring. "See you in Hell." Paul says, pulling the trigger. Sonic braces for pain from being shot, when Paul is then hit with a rear-view mirror from a car. "Leave Sonic alone!" The furries say, rallying on the other side of the bridge. One fox takes a gun out and shoots Paul in the arm. The jackal stumbles back a few paces. "I vow that I will have this city destroyed!" He says. He runs off. A Chevrolet Suburban pulls up and the jackal hops in as it pulls away. "Are you alright?" Scott asks in broken English. "Yeah, I'm fine." Sonic says. "What you furries did was very risky, but brave." Sonic continues, as he is being helped up. "Well, we don't like to see people being pushed around." He continues, trying the best he can to speak English. "When I looked up at him, I noticed that he had a map that said 'New York State Freeway Map' on it. I think they are planning something for New York." Sonic explains. "We should get you back to where the other Freedom Fighters are." He says, opening his sedan's door. Sonic sits down in it. "How did you know I was with the Freedom Fighters?" Sonic asks. "Well, I am an outside member." He replies, starting the car. "Oh." Sonic says. Within minutes of driving thourhg the streets, they arrive at Steele's apartment building. "Guys, listen up!" Sonic says, walking in the door. The furries pay attention. "We've got a situation on our hands." Sonic says. "What type?" Knuckles asks. "It appears that uor...friends are going for a little road trip to New York City." Sonic says. "What for?" Rask asks. "Does the building named 'International Furry Investment Bank' ring a bell?" Sonic asks. "Come on. What would those guys want with some foreign investors' gold?" Ray asks. "There are some humans there, too." Mighty points out. "Still. Ray's right. After what they have done, this is small stuff. This isn't making sense." Sonic says. "They're going to build or buy nuclear missiles off of the black market!" Arthur says. "My god. How do we stop them?" Kit asks. "We could make sure they don't go to Russia to buy the missiles." Knuckles says. "And that would do nothing. THey'd go to Iraq or North Korea." Peter says. "ell, have any of you suggested a millitary blockade of zaire projected path to New York?" Antoine asks. "He's right. If Rask and Kit were to deploy, say....5000 troops, that would stop them from entering the United States." Steele says. "Only at that point. They'd just cross at Niagara Falls." Peter says. "Damn. "Who even thinks they are going by car? They could disguise themselves as civilians, and board a bus, train, jet, or boat." Sheila says. "You know, if they do follow through, they would most likely have troops with them, so any resistance would probably get bloody." Kit says. "Yeah, plus, they could cross where there aren't many people, like Saskatchewan, or New Brunswick." Sonic says. "Well. This is enough for me to declare war on these freaks." Rask says. "We're going to need three of the top Furry Secret Service personnell." Sally says, walking in, and sitting down. "Arthur, please dial this number." Sonic says, passing the raccoon a piece of paper. "0-11-47-544-65700?" Arthur reads the number out loud. "Okay. May I ask who I am dialing?" Arthur asks. "That's Geoffrey St. John. He's our top guard." Sally says. "Alright." Arthur says, dialing the number. "Hello. Furry Secret Service Knothole. How may I help you?" Geoffrey answers the phone while yawning. It is Midnight in Knothle, while it is only 8:00 in Montreal. "Yes. We need your assistance as soon as possible." Arthur says calmly. "Sir. We are not the United Nations Peace Keeping Force. Please call them, or your own army. One additional thing, mate. It's ALMOST 3:00 AM here. We're closed. You may call us when we are open. Good night." Geoffrey says, hanging up the phone. WHen Arthur hears the click and dial-tone, he pulls the phone away from his ear, and looks at it, rudely. "Oh. I can tell THAT went well!" Sonic says trying not to laugh. "Here. Let me talk with the skunk." Sally says. Arthur passes her the phone. She redials the number. "Hello." Geoffrey says, sounding tired and annoyed again. "Geoffrey, this is Princess Sally." She says, speaking into the cellular phone. "Yes. How may I be of service, your highness?" The skunk asks. "For one, you can apologize to the raccoon that tried to tell you that your country is in danger." Sally says. "That german bloke?" Geoffrey asks. "He's Canadian. And he is a very important raccoon." Sally tells the skunk. "Alright. I apologize." Geoffrey says. Arthur hears this, and he nods his head. "Anyway, listen. Robotnik and Falco are planning to get nuclear arms, and use them on any possible force of resistance " Sally says. "Really." Geoffrey says, sounding uninterested. "This is why it threatens the Kingdom! They are targeting every free nation. They're going after us next." Sally says. "Oh no. Alright. I'll get a squad up and be over within 6 hours." Geoffrey says. He makes a quick call to his girlfriend, Hershey. "Geoffrey, it's 1:00 in the morning." She says, waking up in her Washington, DC apartment. "I'm sorry, but this is serious. Look. Just meet me at Grand Central Station in New York City at 6:00, okay? I'll tell you more there." He asks. "Uh, sure." SHe says. She falls back asleep. "Now, I have to call commander Prower, and Wonmbat Stu. They are the best guards for this mission. It's a shame we lost Jules The Hedgehog all those years ago, though." Geoffrey says, going through his little black phonebook. "Mr. Prower. We have a situation." He says, very sternly. "What type?" Tails' father asks. "Code 407. International Terrorists with intent to purchase nuclear arms on the black market." Geoffrey says, reclining in his chair, and putting his feet on his cluttered, paper-filled desk. "I'm in. Where do we go, and when?" Prower asks. "Meet me in Grand Central Station in New York at 6:00. Wombat Stu and Hershey should be with me." He says, hanging up the phone. He then gets up, and walks down the hall, to where Wombat Stu's sleeping quarters are. He bangs his fist on the door. The wombat wakes up with a fright, alarmed. He thinks bombs are falling. "Stu, wake up! We've got a situation!" He says, stading at the door. "Yes, sir." Wombat stu says, getting his uniform on, and his machine gun ready. He walks out a few minutes later. They get into a covered Furry Military pickup, and they drive to the train station. "Sir, may I be filled in on what has been occurring?" Stu asks the military commander. "Here. This is all you need to know." The skunk replies, passing the skunk a copy of Monday's Detroit FreePress. "Oh, God..." Stu says, shaking his head. "Well, here we are. We're taking the trains to New York to blend in as civilians so we aren't noticed, and no one is put in immediate danger." Geoffrey says, getting out of the car. They lock their doors, and walk into Station Square Rail Depot. Geoffrey pays for the tickets, and they quickly, and inconspicuously, board the Midnight Express for New York City. At around 5:51 AM the next morning, a fox arrives at North America's busiest train terminal. Within a few minutes, Hershey arrives. "Where are they?" She asks Amadeus Prower. "They'll be here. We're early, that's all." he says. Over the loud speakers, he can hear an announcer. "Train # 641 from Station Square has just arrived." It says. "That must be his train." Prower says. A lot of people and furries disembark from their train carriages, and last off are Commander Geoffrey St. John, and Wombat Stu, of the Royal Secret Service. "I'm glad you're all here. Let's go stop these villains from purchasing those weapons." Prower says. "So, this is going to be like old times, isn't it?" Geoffrey asks. "It seems like it. In this age of high tech wizardry and military governments, it amazes me that people and their roles like ours are still around." Prower says, leading them to the Lincoln sedan that he has rented for their cause. "So. What's the plan?" Hershey asks. "We drive straight up I-81, up to the Canadian Border. There, we will be informed by the nation's interim leader, Arthur Brenner. Sonic The Hedgehog and the local Freedom Fighters are also in Montreal, defending it from these villains. All I know is that is the last city in Canada that hasn't fallen." Geoffrey says, stepping into the driver's seat. They drive thruogh the heavy Early Morning New York traffic, and they arrive where Arthur, Sonic, Kit, and Rask are waiting by 1:00 PM. Geoffrey slows down when he sees the military road-block at the tolls. He stops the black sedan, and steps out, waving one hand. "Hello. I am Royal Secret Service Commander Geoffrey St. John, and these are my co-workers, Commander Amadeus Prower, Hershey, and Wombat Stu." Geoffrey says. "Yes. I'm Interim Prime Minister Arthur Brenner. I assume you know our friends, United States President Rask, and Sonic the Hedgehog." The raccoon says. "Yes. Very well." Geoffrey says, looking around. "Listen. We need you to stop anyone that tries to cross. We think they might try to raid the International Furrry Investment Bank and use teh gold and money to buy nuclear arms." Rask says. "Alright. I'll keep an eye out here." Geoffrey says. The other furries return to their base, but Sonic, Tails, Kit, Rask and Knuckles remain. Chapter VII: All Hell Breaks Loose "Sir, I am sorry. I couldn't kill Sonic The Hedgehog." Paul says to Wolf. Falco walks up. "You DIDN'T kill the hadgehog?" Falco asks. "Forgive me! It's that city...Montreal. The citizens all act like a family there." Paul says. "Well. They MAY be smart, but i doubt they know what we are doing." Wolf says. "Did they get a look at you? Did they see what you wre wearing? I can see that map and the picture of the International Furry Investment Bank from across the room!" Falco says. Paul looks down, and sees that the map and picture are hanging out of his pocket. He tucks them back in. "I think Sonic saw the map, along with this francophone wolf." Later: Fang then gets caught by falco, and is about to be roboticized, when he pleas for his life, and asks that if he can capture either fox or sonic, he would be let go. falco agrees. He finds sonic, hits him over the head with his gun, and carries him back. sonic is unconciuos, but begins to regain consciousness when he is being roboticized. he is then turned into a robot after having his last mortal thoughts. tails goes outside, when he looks north, towards russia. he calls everyone out, as he is scared out of his mind of what he sees: the horizion is filled from end to end with ICBM nuclear missiles, rising and launching high into the sky, armed and about to detonate, once they hit the ground. "Oh no! This is BAD!" Tails says, as he and the freedom fighters take cover. He confesses, and they arrest him after the nuclear war that kills all the humans but leaves the furries, falco and the enemies try to invade both Knothole and the floating island. they are beaten. sonic and the freedom fighters are urged to stay in toronto because arthur and tails fear that the same thing would happen once they leave. they stay, and rebuild knothole 45 kilometers north of Kitchener, and the floating island is moved to just south of the new continent (which contains the great lakes, part of the midwest, chicago, quebec, and US eastern seaboard, but its southern shore is along where the ohio river once was). after this, sonic makes sure that Arthur is safe (he was elected Prime Minister of Canada, the first Furry to be the PM). seeing a sniper (Raymond Kenton) ready to shoot arthur, sonic dives into the way, and takes the bullet right in the head. sonic tells tails to protect the freedom fighters as he dies in his "Brother"'s arms. knuckles and tails take sonic's body out to reynard's pick-up, and they drive up north to where the aurora borealis is. knuckles puts on his father's ceremonial uniform, and he brings sonic back with the chaos emeralds. sonic thanks his "brothers" and returns to the base. stephen is talking with taylor (who was almost killed by fang) and lara-su about how much he misses his father, Sonic. Sonic then walks into the room, and stephen in surprised that his father is alive, after he saw him being murdered. sally walks in to the room, and she can't believe her eyes when she sees Sonic. she hugs him and cries. sonic tells her that he's fine. As they fight onward (the furry groups that are against everyone still survived, as well as a limited few humans), they encounter some troubles. their enemies survived the nuclear war, and set up a huge fortress like the one in windsor, at the north pole. they send 5 ultra-speed jets out to destroy it, but they crash in the north. tails and arthur go to recover their allies, but they are forced to retreat from an arctic blizzard. once they manage to sail north and recover thier friends, they decide a land assault would do it. however, Fang has secretly been working for the enemies as a double-agent. he reports to them, but doesn't realize that tails followed him. they order him to be roboticized, and that is what happens to our two-tailed hero. After this, Fang stick up for tails, and restores him. they escape. knuckles takes tails to the floating island, where he restores his vulpine friend with the master emerald. sonic then enlists Sally, Fox, Rick, Walt, mighty, Fang, Nic, Tails, and KNuckles to start an assault on the enemies' Winnepeg stronghold (they have 9 strongholds in the nation of Canada, and 4 elsewhere). shadow and falco see the freedom fighters coming , and he creates a plan: to murder sally. when they make it int othe base, Shadow grabs sally, and places his hand over her mouth so she can't scream. he sees a ledge that has a 100-foot drop off of it, and he trows her off of it. sonic and the rest see this, and they run to thier ally. knuckles and the rest think sonic did this, but he then realizes that he would never do such a thing. knuckles and sonic are now wanted in the murder of sally. the canadian freedom fighters later prove he is innocent, with the help of antoine and mighty. arthur tells sonic that sally died from her injuries, and sonic runs away. Sonic and the freedom fighters then meet up with Fang, and sonic and starfox get a confession out of him. this is when Sonic strangles Fang and tries to kill him because he knows that Fang either did it, or he had a hand in sally's "murder", but Walt and tails pull him off, just before fang is killed. the freedom fighters agree that fang shouldn't live, but they DO need his help. tails and knuckles later find him at the shore of Lake St. Claire (the whole world is now either tropical rainforest, tundra, or desert), looking at the stars, and seeing the distant glimmer of the Detroit Skyline. he sees the stars and tells his friends of how he loved sally so much, and he cries on knuckles' shoulder.later, sonic walks up to sally's monument, and gives her a kiss, telling her how much he loves her, and how much he'd give his own life up just so she could live. she awakens, and sonic hugs her. suddenly, rick and peter come in with some bad news: the bad guys are about to leave in HUGE sky-cities attatched to rockets, much like space stations. sonic, tails, and knuckles then transform into their super forms, and try to stop the enemies, but they fail, as it blasts off, and their powers fail. they can only watch the rockets blast up into the skly, arching ever higher and higher. this is when the bad guys decide to leave this planet, and they operate from their two other bases on the neighbouring planet. arthur and the canadian freedom fighters retrofit their aircraft for interstellar travel.
